Workforce of the future: The competing forces shaping 2030

We are living through a fundamental transformation in the way we work. Automation and ‘thinking machines’ are replacing human tasks, changing the skills that organizations are looking for in their people. But what will the future look like? This isn’t a time to sit back and wait for events to unfold. To be prepared for the future, you have to understand it.

Mobile and social technologies are enabling business to better engage with their workforce, now more than ever there is an opportunity for the workforce to be engaged in the way their workplace policies, processes and work environment are shaped. Having an engaged workforce which is able to adapt quickly is a key focus for many employers and a key to quick adoption is the workplace.

  • OEE Consulting joins forces with gobeyond : OEE Consulting, one of UK’s larger independent consultancies specialising in operations and customer excellence, has been picked up by French multinational Webhelp.   • 4C Associates launches procurement and cost management solution: European procurement consultancy 4C Associates has launched a range of software modules, collectively the 4C Analytics platform, to address procurement and cost management issues. With the approach of Brexit likely to complicate many logistics chains in the UK and EU, the new line of insight-as-a-service products is hoped to offer clients a way to analyze and rapidly improve their procurement mechanisms. | Steve Harrison, 4C Associates
  • Sale of Wagamama by Duke Street and Hutton Collins: Two major transactions have seen the Japanese dining chain Wagamama and UK cider maker Aston Manor change hands. Both deals saw strategy consulting firm OC&C advise on the sell-side. The Restaurant Group beat private equity firms for a sale that was launched in June by Goldman Sachs on behalf of Duke Street, Wagamama’s private equity backer. Now, the “transformative” £559 million takeover of the Wagamama chain will see the UK-headquartered corporation assume Wagamama’s net debt of £202 million. | OC&C
  • Consulting firm McKinsey launches new arm for design services: International strategy consulting heavyweight McKinsey & Company has formalised its entry into the world of design thinking, launching the new McKinsey Design brand. The firm’s new business unit builds on three acquisitions – Lunar, Carbon12 and Veryday – which has enabled it to reach a headcount of some 350 designers spread across ten international hubs. | Consultancy uk
